Help please! I'm not a good cook at all! (really those directions need to be re-written)
The ingredient list has Celery, Tomatoes and the soup mix but the directions don't say how or when you add them into the soup.
Also, is the soup mix absolutely necessary?.. because the only thing I could find at the grocery store was noodle mix and that obviously wouldn't work in the soup.
Also.. I found there was much much more onions than there were cabbage in the soup.. perhaps the diet is incorrectly named?

Just add all the ingredients at the same time. I bring to a boil for 10 minutes uncovered then I lower the heat, cover the pot and simmer for another 40 minutes. The longer you cook the mushier the veggies get so I like mine a little 'al dente'.
The soup mix isn't necessary, it's just for flavor. You can substitute buillon but I would definitely use one or the other. Normally the soup mix is in a packet or a box and is near the buillon or near the dry packets for sauces and dressings in the grocery store.
As far as the onions are concerned... are you sure you're using the right kind? Your'e supposed to be using green onions some people call them scallions or chives. The amount called for doesn't add up to much. They have small white bulbs at one end and thin green stalks. I usually just chop up the white end and half of the green.
Hope this helps.

Hello ! I use to use a type of diet like this a few year's ago. My cabbage soup recipe was also called the heart doctors diet. It was given to people with heart problems who needed to drop a few pounds fast. I found my diet in a magazine. I saved the recipe for years. Just today I went looking for it so I could get on a fast track to getting in better shape and I seem to have lost it! Then I found this website. My diet consisted of mainly the same ingredients with only a few differences, I didn't use lipton soup mix or V8 juice. Instead it was a large head of cabbage, 2 cans of green beans.
My diet was for four days. Day one all fruit, and all the soup you can handle. Day two was all veggies, and you could dip the veggies in salsa, plus all the soup you can handle. Day three was all fruits and veggies and soup too. Day four was same plus a baked potato. I use butter on the last day too. I alway felt energized afetr this diet. My head felt so clear too. I plan to try this complete diet with out the lipton soup or V8. I plan to try to go the seven days.

I made my soup slightly different too. I live in Beijing and I couldn't find Lipton soup mix and V8 Juice. I used Chicken Flavoured Cubes (Maggie's or Knorr) instead and no added salt required.
