Hi guys,
I've lost 5lbs so far by fasting. Anyways, I wanted to ask a question, I was watching tv the other day, and it was showing all these celebrity diets. There was one lady, that did the master cleanse. She said she lost I think 30lbs in 3 weeks. She said that she was watching David Blaine the magician and he came up with the diet and said it will work. So she tried it and it did work for her. I'm wondering if he really is the creator of the master cleanse. (btw those of you that don't know what the master cleanse is, it's water mixed with maple syrup, cayenne pepper, and lemon, and you just drink that)

I have been on the master cleanse. The drink you drink apparantly contains all the nutrients and vitamins you need to survive borderline healthy. It's extremely difficult and if works, but it's meant to be a fast and not an option to lose weight. I was on it for three days and lost 10lbs. However during those days the hunger was incredible, plus the drink tastes horrible. Through my research it was said that two weeks on the diet is fine, anymore is to much on your body and you do lose both water weight and ALOT of muscle tone.

wow I'm going to try that since I'm fasting now anyways. I'll maybe try it for a week. I'm going to do it after my fast, because I'm used the hunger now anyways, and if I start to eat then it will be hard for me to do it. My calves are too muscular, I think I need to lose some of that anyways. Wow 3 days you lost 10lbs, you just drank the water? BTW what do you mean it's not an option to lose weight? And how many times a day did you drink the water? And did you gain the weight back?

I have read that once you start fasting, liquids only--that after 3 or four days you actually no longer have hunger pains and there are those who have gone 30+ days then find it hard to return to food.
I don't know how true any of this is since I enjoy the chewing of food, as much as the taste and would hate to give up both

When I say not an option, I mean the master cleanse was not created for weight loss and is not a diet and should not be considered a weight loss plan. The lemon drink you're meant to have every hour or so, or a total of 2,5 litres a day along with normal water.
By the time I hit my fourth day I was starving beyond comprehension.

Just be careful. Remember you are starving your body. Oh and don't forget the cayenne pepper. It's there for a reason.

Emerald,
About the Master Cleanseing Diet. You are to drink this for at lease 10 days. Drink 6-12 servings of this drink. Make sure that you are still drinking water with this. Also in the morings you are to drink SEA salt (NOT table) mixed with 1 quart of SPRING water. At night time you are to drink a herbal laxative tea (Senna tea) would be the best.
After your done with this cleanse dont eat whatever. You still have to drink the lemon juice in the morings. Start out with eating some soup/broth. You can also eat some freash, raw fruits and veggies.
On the 2nd day make sure that you eat a salad. NO MEAT or MILK for a few days after.

Interesting. I don't think I'd ever be able to do it as I can hardly go 4 hours without some kind of food! But what are the quantities of maple syrup, lemon and cayenne pepper? One tablespoon in a tall glass or what?
Wow, I can't believe you losst 10 pounds in 3 days, Husky! I've been trying to lose 10 pounds for forever it seems like!

You guys are absolutely amazing!!!! I've heard of the master cleanse and I've thought about doing it...but I have such a hard time sticking with the cabbage soup diet I can't even imagine going on a complete liquid diet! But for those of you with such will power...I SALUTE YOU!!!

I could not do only liquids for any diet or detox
I don't have that kind of will power I even have receipe somewhere for the "hollywood" diet drink that you do for two days and it is supose to be the equivlqant of the csd for jump starting your metabolism....
Bring on the food I need to chew LOL

csd novice, the drink is as follows:
2 tblsp lemon or lime juice
2 tblsp genuine maple syrup
1/10 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
and 8 oz. water
My math was never good, I'm wondering how much is 1/10? I know it's like 0.1, is that like half of the teaspoon?
I'm also wondering if I should work out while doing this diet, or will I not have the energy to do that, I just want to lose as much weight as possible. I'm thinking of maybe doing it for a week, and then I'll do it again before my wedding in August.

The Cayenne pepper is to taste. Some people like more than others. When I did it, I literally just put a pinch in. 1/10 of a tsp is basicall 0.5ml. I started noticing the weight loss after the second day. I think it is all dependant on where you keep your "fat". I know some people store the fat on their thighs, I store it around my middle. After I did the diet (Started on a Monday and finished it on a Thursday) the weight loss was rather apparant for me physically. I began losing the weight almost immediately on my sides and my stomach slimmed down a lot.
Another thing being you don't always have to drink the sea salt flush everymorning. It is said you need to take it on the first morning to kick start the detox. Also throughout this detox you can drink decaffinated herbal teas to help with the flush.
It won't be hard to lose 10lbs on this diet. I know if four/five days I basically had that off. My advice is to try and do some sort of toning exercises while on the detox. Avoid it for the first two or so days as you will be weak and your body will be readjusting to the new in take.
You can ask away and I will give you my take on things, but I will state for the record that I am not a professional and I haven't done this detox many times, this is all just from my personal expierence.
Good luck with it though. 5lbs is nothing to be laughed at.
