BRAND NEW CSD

My husband and I started Monday, 23 April.  We are doing the "old" csd.  What is the new csd and where do I get the menu?  I see the new diet has bran flakes and yogurt?

Do you lose the same amount of weight with the new diet?

Re: BRAND NEW CSD

HERE IT IS
I have been searching and KNEW that I would find some info on the net about it.  Have started it today.  It goes as follows...

Author  Topic:   Clarifycations of New Cabbage Soup Diet
Princessbuttercup
Member   posted 09-27-2004 08:16 AM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some clarifycations:
DAY ONE:
Menu: You may have any fruit you want and as much as your want, except banana (No Banana except of day four). I enjoyed Bing Cherries, Watermelon, Canteloupe, Grapefruit, Mango, Blueberries, Strawberries, Black Berries, Apples, they are all in season right now. You may have one Serving of 100 % Bran Flake Cereal, if desired. Everyday you may have one serving of Skim Milk or one serving of FF Plain Yogurt.

Every day of this week You may have unlimited amount of the soup, coffee, tea, unsweetened Cranberry juice, one diet cola, 8-eight ounce glasses, of water. On fruit days you may liquidfy fruits in the blender and have it as juice (use the entire fruit). On veggie day you may liquidfy veggies and have it as juice. Be sure to use the entire fruit and veggie. On day three you can mix fruits and veggies to make juice. Every Day you may have one Serving of Bran Flake Cereal, if desired. Everyday you may have one serving of Skim or FF Milk or one serving of FF Plain Yogurt. You may add Vanilla to the milk or yogurt.

Day Two:

Any vegetable that is on the Negative Calorie list. One Baked potato is allowed. Try making it go further by using some of the allowed milk and mash it. Stuff it with steamed Broccoli and top with a tablespoon of FF plain Yogurt. Top it with diced green onions and fresh parsley. You may have one Serving of 100 % Bran Flake Cereal, if desired. Everyday you may have one serving of Skim Milk or one serving of FF Plain Yogurt.

One serving of Bran Flakes.

Unlimited amounts of Soup.

DAY THREE:

Any fruit or vegetable. I personally do not have avocado at this time be cause of the very high coloric value of that vegetable. No potato except on Day Two. Eat unlimited amount of soup (liquefyed or plain). You may have 3/4 cup of Bran Flakes, 8 ounces of FF milk or FF Soymilk

DAY FOUR:

Soup as much as you want.
Bananas up to six.
Milk 8-eight ounce glasses of skim or FF milk or FF soymilk, or 7 glasses of milk and 1 carton of ff plain yogurt. You may eat one serving of bran flake cereal.

Bananas can be plain, sliced, broiled, mashed, or frozen. Remember bananas are easily digested and so is the milk. It is a rest for your GI tract from all the other fruits and veggies. Eat plenty of soup today or liquidfy it and drink it like a veggie juice.

SAY FIVE: Truly a great day. Don't be afraid to try grilled fish for breakfast it is a typical breakfast food in some countries. Day five is NOT a fruit day (No fruit or fruit juice except unsweetened canberry juice today). It is a great day and I usually enjoy it as I have so much energy.

MENU FOR DAY FIVE:

Unlimited grilled fish or chicken, or 20 ounces of beef. Fish is the lowest calorie, next is chicken or turkey. I had one meal of each.
Unlimited soup.
Unlimited green leafy veggies with 1 TBsp of low fat dressing.
1-28 ounce can of tomatoes, whole, or crushed or up to 6 fresh, ripe tomatoes.
Tea or coffee, plain, or with artificial sweetener.
One diet cola.
1 tablespoon of low or no-fat dressing.
1 8-ounce of skim milk, or FF soy milk, or 1 FF plain yogurt.
One serving of bran flakes or Carb Well cereal.

This is a great day. Start it off with broiled fish, grilled strip steak, grilled ground meat, or baked chicken breast. You can have all the same kind of meat today or have one meal of each, fish, chicken, steak, grilled 95% lean ground sirloin, grilled ground turkey patties, or ground turkey with homemade tomato sauce. Make a tomato sauce of onions, green peppers, garlic, diced carrots, chopped broccoli and spead it over ground meat, serve alone or with speghetti squash.

Have a least two bowls of soup today. More if you get hungry. The soup is a great snack. If you have trouble getting all those tomatoes in, liquidfy them in the blender, add some salt and you haveTomato Juice.

DAY SIX:

You are sliding into home and your clothes are probably feeling much loser. Today is another meat day. Twenty ounce of Beef is allowed today or unlimited amounts of Chicken, fish, or turkey. IT is a very important day as your body need that protein to build and restore every cell of the the body.

MENU FOR DAY SIX:

One serving of Bran Flakes or Carb Well Cereal

One eight ounce glass of Skim Milk or FF SoyMilk.

Unlimited amounts of White fish, chicken, or turkey. Try to chose the low fat White meat of chicken or turkey, IT can be ground ( ground turkey comes in 98% FF. Or you may chose up to 20 ounces of Beef, Pork, etc. Avoid ham as it is so high in salt it often causes water retention. One small serving of ham is allowed.

Have a least two bowls of soup today. Eat as much as you can.

Unlimited amount of green leafy vegetables. 1 Tablespoon of low fat dressing.

All the allowed drinks.

Day Seven: In only 24 hours you will have competed the diet and should be much lighter. By now, you may be weighing less. Day seven is still an important day and you can get through this day without going off plan.

Day Seven can be changed to day three if you really don't like rice.

Day Seven Menu if changed to day three is exactly as day three. Unlimited amounts of Fruits and veggetables, Unlimited amounts of Soup, 1 Tablespoon of low fat dressing, one serving of Bran Flakes, one eight ounce glass of skim milk or FF SoyMilk. FF soymilk with vanilla is allowe

Re: BRAND NEW CSD

I finally found the book at Borders.  "The New Cabbage Soup Diet" by Margaret Danbrot and there is nothing about bran flakes on the menu.  Bran flakes are recommended on the maintenance plan.

* The soup recipe calls for putting the brown rice in the soup
* no cranberry juice
* one 8-ounce glass of skim milk or plain low-fat or fat free yogurt

Re: BRAND NEW CSD

Interesting maybe the one originally posted on here was someone's adaption of it then or maybe there is another 'new cabbage soup diet' by another author! The new one you have sounds identical near enough to the old one then apart from the daily milk. I've never had cranberry juice on this diet though as I've never found a sugar free one!
Good luck!

Re: BRAND NEW CSD

(I am posting again on this one to bump it up so it's easier for my "peeps" to find!)

  I asked about it earlier and Sweetjag was nice enough to post it.  She said somewhere that the original "New" CSD didn't have the cereal every day but she added it because it worked well for her and she still lost weight, about 4 pounds a week.  Then Sally posted it and gave lots of great ideas and indicated the cereal as 'optional'.  I could totally do it without the cereal but since it's listed as "optional" so we can fit it to our liking. I really like being able to have a cup of ff milk though, as I will use it in my coffee.
This expanded version seems easier to adhere to.  I'm not sure what day but when we start this one we are going to experiment and throw away day four and do it for 6 days and take a day off.

Re: BRAND NEW CSD

I know, I remember reading it, but yo still are a sweetie for bothering to post it.
So Sally, how long have you been doing the CSD and what's your method?  Do you take the two weeks off and when doing it, stick to it exactly?  Now I am so paranoid about the beef.  I was going to have turkey today instead of beef but now I may go to the store to buy beef.  I really want to do it perfectly this week and see what happens.  Anyway, You have done so well and your picture is gorgeous so what's your secret and how much total have you lost?  you ARE at goal now right?  Do you do this every now and then as a "maintenance" routine?

Re: BRAND NEW CSD

Yea, it sounds good doesn't it?   At least if gives a couple more options to people.  Like ONE DIET COKE per day could mean the world to someone!  As for me, being able to have coffee with sweetner and skim milk is awesome!   I'm going to do it Mon.

Re: BRAND NEW CSD

Hey pug good to see you back.

I found it on an old thread I haven't done it!

No 6lbs to go to goal weight. I never have beef now it's either tuna, rainbow trout or grilled chicken. Tuna if I'm cooking lol! I can open a can!

I always have 2 weeks inbetween where I eat carefully but drink!  [I don't drink Bacardi Breezer orange as it is high calorie anymore though and I was a few a night girl up until Christmas! Now I tend to have vodka and diet coke] However, last time I did 6 days CSD followed by 3DD. I actually hate day 7 and often do day 3 again! I also jiggle the whole diet around on occasions but am pretty strict on myself. I often have fruit on veg days and things like that rather than major cheats! I also don't put any salt on anything as I know it's bad for retaining water and there is enough natural salt in the diet anyway.
My favourite day is day 4 mmmmmmmmmm! bananas and milk!

Re: BRAND NEW CSD

Thanks for the info.  I would rather have anything than beef.  Man, I could eat tuna straight out of the tin and I've done it many times!!

Where do you get Rainbow Trout?  At the market, or do you have a fish monger or live near a lake?  I love it so mch, like a very delicate version of Salmon.
~~~Mental picture~~~  I only have it when my husband and I go camping in the summer on a stream or river and we eat them freshly caught every day, with the river on one side, sitting besides a campfire, surrounded by tall pines and mountains!  Ahhhh!  Could you see it?  Can't wait!   He is an excellent hunter and fisherman and is in his element in the woods!   He will catch all the fish, clean them, fillet them, cook them AND do all the dishes!!   AM I spoiled or what??
Re: BRAND NEW CSD
All the main supermarkets sell it over here near the salmon fillets usually. It is less calories than salmon and has less fat content and it is usually a lot cheaper than salmon too!
Re: BRAND NEW CSD
Hey Whitt,  look at Sally's post and all the info on the "New" CSD is there.  See day 7?
That's what I like about this version, there are some "optional" things AND you can switch out day 7 for day 3!  (and I LOVE day 3!)
