Hi there,
I had my baby 5 weeks ago and gained 50 pounds and I've only lost 10 since having her! I started working out last week and lost 3 pounds which I'm very happy about, but would like to lose most of it by mid July for a vacation we have planned. Does anyone know if this diet is safe while breastfeeding?
Thanks a lot!

I am not a doctor, but I would say emphatically, no it is not safe while breastfeeding. Your body would not get enough calories...you're already in need of 500 more calories per day just to produce the milk. If you can pump extra for a week, then have the milk on-hand to feed from a bottle while you diet (and then pump and dump what you produce while on CSD), maybe you could do it. But please give your body the calories it needs while you're breastfeeding. Plus remember that whatever you eat, the baby eats, and the CSD tends to be loaded with many gassy foods.
Remember I'm not claiming to be a doctor or expert, but that's my two cents...

I totally agree with maidofhonour on this one you should not do this diet whilst breast feeding. If I were you I would go and see my doctor and get dieting advice there. I have to say be it 18 years ago now but I put on 5 stone [70lbs] when I was pregnant but found that I lost most of that fairly quickly after giving birth without dieting! You need all the energy and nutrients you can get at the moment!

Not only are you not getting enough calories for your baby, most babies can't stomach cabbage, it's makes them colicky. That's all you need on a tough week of CSD!
No, I would not do it whilst breastfeeding!
