Anyone tried the "NEW" Cabbage Soup Diet?

Hi guys!
I read a few things about "The NEW Cabbage Soup diet", which includes a lot more stuff but mainly I would like a cup of coffee in the morning with sweetener and light soy milk and I think that's okay.   Anyone tried it?  Any comments?  I think I can do this original one but sure love a cup of coffee in the mornings to avoid the anti-caffiene headaches I always get when I quit!
Any input would be great.  So far I've just had water and off to the store now to buy gobs of fruit and all the ingreds. for the soup!
Sorry I have so many questions, but I am new to threads and find it a wonderful source for support!   Thanks all!

Sorry, I don't have an answer to that, but I was wondering the same thing. Also, I just wanted to point out that I drink coffee with a little bit of soymilk every morning on the cabbage soup diet, and I still lose weight. I know everyone's bodies are different, but perhaps you can try drinking  coffee on the diet and see if that affects you smiley-laugh

Re: Anyone tried the "NEW" Cabbage Soup Diet?

Thanks much for the reply and the incentive to keep going!  Yes I am having a cup of coffee and slowly my headache is disappeaaring!
I did some research and as you know there are many sites for the CSD but I found one and now I can't re-locate it, but it was exactly the same as this one however allows  unlimted amounts of non caloric beverages including tea and coffee.   The only other difference is 1/2 c. optional Balsamic Vinegar in the soup as well as 1/2 lb. of fresh green beans.    i think I will continue the original soup recipe but will have a little coffee in the morning just to keep me going!
We are still eating fewer calories and basically the soup is cleaning us out, so it should work the same.  I'm just glad that someone else has to have their morning coffee as well.  I have certainly cut down, but that one hot cup in the morning just makes the day seem to start right!  Thanks!

Re: Anyone tried the "NEW" Cabbage Soup Diet?

Hey there.  I've been doing the newer version of this diet since mid-February though I did do the original diet my first week.  The diet I'm on consists of the following:

Soup prepared basically the same but cook one cup of rice and add to your big pot of soup.

Day one: unlimited coffee and tea with sweetener, fruits, soup.  One serving of fiber one or all bran cereal (look for the lowest cal and carb option) and one cup of skim milk (you can use some of this milk for your coffee or tea). You can substitue a 1/2 c of plain non-fat yogurt for the milk any day but you can only have one or the other not a little of both except for day 4.   I usually choose the milk to go with my cereal.

Day two: unlimited coffee, tea, veggies and soup.  One serving of cereal, 1 c of skim milk (save some to mash with your potato, yumm), one T of low-fat or no-fat salad dressing and one medium potato.

Day three:  unlimited coffee, tea, veggies, fruit and soup. One serving of cereal, 1 c of skim milk, one T of allowed dressing.

Day four: unlimited coffee, tea and soup.  One serving of cereal, 8 c of skim milk or 7 c of skim milk and 1 c of plain non-fat yogurt.  3 - 6 bananas.

Day five: unlimited coffee, tea and soup.  unlimited chicken and fish.  one serving of cereal, 1 c of skim milk and up to one 28 oz can of tomatoes or 6 fresh ones

Day six:  unlimited coffee, tea, soup, veggies, chicken and fish.  One serving of cereal and 1 c of skim milk.

Day seven:  unlimited coffee, tea, soup, fruits and veggies.  One serving of cereal and 1 c of skim milk.

It states you can use condiments that don't have more than 25 calories per T just in moderation.  No juice as they are so high in calories and no unlimited rice on day 7 plus no beef.

I've been doing this diet off and on since February and have gone from 158 to 132 with moderate exercise and multi-vitamins.  It's much easier to stick to and I'm still losing.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I lost 32 pounds in 3 months doing the New Cabbage Soup Diet and have stayed at 124 for the last 3 months eating and exercising sensibly!  You can do it too!
Update I'm now down to 121 and counting.
Update as of 9/12 I'm 120!
After my recent bout of CSD 10/6 I'm 117.6

Re: Anyone tried the "NEW" Cabbage Soup Diet?

Wow!  Thank you Sweetjag!!
I am definately doing the original at first but that one sounds exactly like the perfect diet for me.   I miss my bowl of Fiber One in the morning and I need my coffee in the morning.  Though I'm not too fond of milk, I should drink it for calcium so that diet sounds much esier to follow more long term.

Is the recipe for the actual soup exactly the same?

Also, do you do it for 7 days, take a 2 week break and then do it again, or do you think it's safe to do every other week?

I think I will try that one after this week, well the Monday after so I'll have the weekend to enjoy!  I would love to devise  diet of 4 days on and 3 days off!

Anyway...thank you so much for submtting the complete diet!!  id you uy a book, or it is available on the internet?

Re: Anyone tried the "NEW" Cabbage Soup Diet?

Sweetjag thanks so much for posting that information so many people on here talk about it but nobody reports back with weight loss so a lot of us I think have been to scared to try that version!!! Out of interest what was your normal average weight loss usng that diet? I've been doing the old version on and off since Christmas and have lost near enough the same amount as you but now find my weight loss tends to be 4lbs a week as opposed to the 1st week when it was 6lbs!

Re: Anyone tried the "NEW" Cabbage Soup Diet?

Hey Sally 4 pounds is great!  The last pounds are always the hardest to loose in any diet.
I'm hoping for 5-7 lbs. the first week and after that I think 4 would be normal.
I actually think the new diet would be great too and easier to stick to.  It's still very low calorie and they do shicken or fish instead of beef which I feel better about.
If you want to try it too,  I think I will start next Monday!   Anyone else?  Join in!

Re: Anyone tried the "NEW" Cabbage Soup Diet?

Well I bought the book "The New Cabbage Soup Diet" by Margaret Danbrot used on Amazon.com for a penny plus shipping and handling.  Her diet doesn't include the cereal and milk daily.  I added that because it helps control my appetite and I eat less when I have cereal in the morning.  The recipe is the same but I also add a can of green beans.  I don't use V8 because spice my soup up enough and don't want to add those calories.  Some days I love jalapenos added to the soup.

I usually lose about 4 pounds every week I'm on the diet.  I've pretty much been doing it every other week though I do take a womans multi-vitamin and B-complex vitamin and I feel great.  Keep in mind I have had my cheat days such as Easter or Cinco de Mayo.  You have to splurge every once in a while!

There are some weeks where I've done 3 or 4 days in a row and than had a cheat day and just resumed the diet the next day.  I think you just have to make the diet work for you by tweaking it to your standards.  Experiment with it and just make sure you continue to lose weight.  Good Luck!

Re: Anyone tried the "NEW" Cabbage Soup Diet?

I TOTALLY agree with you about tweaking a diet that fits the individual and that's what I plan on doing.    I want to be strict this week and try the "new" one next week and then see what happens.  I think doing it 3 or 4  days a week every week and then enjoying the weekend without totally pigging out would work well for me.
Like for me 3 days of unlimited veggies and fruit and soup with a serving of Fiber One with the skim milk AND coffee would be perfect!  and it's ONLY 3 days, so much more attainable!

Re: Anyone tried the "NEW" Cabbage Soup Diet?

Hey Barb, I want to try it Monday if you want to join me?  I would actually like to do it on a weekly basis and then take the weekends off without blowing it too much, but we all need some sanity!
Anyway that's my plan but the original seems to be working well for me so far this week.  I am so full all the time and eat so much of the allowed foods that I thought I may have GAINED weight but to my amazement I've lost!  yeah!!
