hot sauce??

Hi everyone,

So I am just finishing up day 4 of the cabbage soup diet, and so far so good.  I haven't weighed myself yet - gonna wait till I'm all done!  Anyways, I was wondering if we are allowed to have hot sauce?  I know there is no fat in it, and very few calories (if any).  I love hot sauce on brown rice.  What do you think?

Thanks!
Beth

Re: hot sauce??

I think you can probably add that. Rumour has it that spicy things make your metabolism spike.

Re: hot sauce??

I agree with rottingoak.  I put Red Hot in my soup almost every day when I did this diet last time.  It's true about spicy things and your metabolism!
Good luck with your weigh in!

Re: hot sauce??

Oh, and another thing, try to have cold water. It burns off some calories because your body adjusts the water to "normal" temperature.

Re: hot sauce??

I added a few drops of Tabasco to a small amount of just the liquid in a mug, put in a lemon slice, and drank it like a bloody mary (virgin, of course smiley-angel).  It was quite good.

Good luck.  Hope the hot sauce helps!  I think you just need to change up the soup a bit throughout the week to keep you eating it...don't add the hot sauce to your entire batch.  Just add a little to a bowl here and there.  And sometimes blend the soup, sometimes drink it from a mug, sometimes add a few more mushrooms, whatever you can do to keep you going!!  Eating the soup seems to be very important so you don't want to be sick of it. (which definitely happens!)

Re: hot sauce??

There you go again Maidofhonor...talking about Bloody Mary's and making me thirsty!
So I think the state of Wisconsin is the only one that actually serves a "shot of Beer" along with your bloody mary! At least around Milwaukee and Racine!  Ever heard of that?(p.s. I HAD to give you a + reputation point, just for being from Madison!)smiley-clapping

Re: hot sauce??

We all love you Whittnie and I hope you know that! I have given you,Sally, omgirlie, 36togoal and Maidofhonor points so far.  You can only do one every so often!  But ou really need to check in here a little more, cuz we miss you!   As for the "Frank's Red Hot", go to the grocery store and check out the aisle with the  ketsup, BBq sauce, tobassco, worshershire, etc.   It's "Franks Red Hot", It's the bomb!  That is the brand used when making the original "Buffalo Wings", of coarse the "Anchor Bar" in Buffalo NY also adds butter to it, (and Mandy will attest to that, since she lives near there)  But the flavor is really good, and a bit 'creamy' and yes it's hot but to me, much better flavor, not like Tobasco!  W used t make a Weight Watcher versin of hot wings use chicken legs, grill them and put Franks on like BBQ sauce at the end, and believe it or not were only 1 point each!
So again, I started off with good intentions, even though I'm "OFF" till Wed. I did have Cabbage soup for breafast, then we grilled a chicken for lunch and had it with tomatoes, lettuce, onions, jalopenos, salsa, tortillas, etc.   So I basically had a big  Chicken Taco Salad,.  but the my husband wanted to go back to the store and we got Blue tortilla chips and cheddar cheese and the makings for gaucamole!  Hello?  He said "You and your friends on the computer are going to enjoy the weekend and start again Wed. right?  So let's enjoy life and eat and drink today and then, you can eat all that weird stuff next week while I'm at work!!" So of coarse I agreed, and am looking forward to some Nachos tonight!  So NO GUILT guys, okay?  It's just great that we have each other to complain to and to boost each other up,but we don't always need to be good, right?
So once again...have a great Memorial day weekend!

Re: hot sauce??

I had nacho cheese dip and torilla chips yesterday too...so NO GUILT!!  I also had three garlic breadsticks--my mother-in-law is sinful--she just kept putting them in front of me!!  Oh yeah, and that unsweetened pomegranate juice was delightful with some Polish potato vodka in it!  (Does that count as a vegetable then?? LOL)  My father-in-law and I polished off half a bottle of the vodka. smiley-surprise sheesh!!
BUT.... along with the "bad stuff" I did eat a lot of veggies.  I roasted a whole piece of garlic wrapped in aluminum foil in the oven until it was soft.  Then rubbed a couple cloves onto asparagus spears that we grilled (with salt, pepper and I can't believe it's not butter spray).  Everyone loved those.  Then I used the rest of the roasted garlic in mashed cauliflower that I had steamed to "mush."  Fooled the kids into thinking it was mashed potatoes!  And I roasted brussel sprouts with garlic slices and just a tad of olive oil.  So the day wasn't all that bad, eh?!  Don't vegetables cancel out the alcohol and chips?smiley-wacko
Ready to have another "great" day today and tomorrow and start up fresh on Wednesday!!
Happy Memorial Day!
Jennifer

PS: thx for the positive point, twilight!  And oh yeah, about the beer chaser... it's the ONLY way to drink a bloody.  When we were traveling (I think in Connecticut?) the bartender thought we were nuts....had no idea what to charge or how to give us a beer chaser.  Funny.  WI is one of those states that's kind of like it's own country with its traditions, isn't it?!

Re: hot sauce??

Yes TOTALLY!  That's why we LOVE it!
Oh and yeah,I think we decided that since vodka comes from potatoes, it's just fine on day 2!!  Ha ha! (not!)

It's weird having my husband home for 3 days!  He works so much and so hard that I think he's getting slap happy!  He's been doing yard work since 5 am!  He says he's not used to "sleeping in" so long, since he's usually off to work by 2:30 am every morning!

I got all the stuff for the soup already and was going to make it today and start early but then I remembered all that good food we have that's "leftover" and I KNOW by the days end it will be calling my name and making me crazy, so I will just see what the day brings!

Love roasted garlice too!  I also do it in foil,we have a garlic roaster and the foil works much better!  I do the cauliflower like that too and it really DOES taste like garlic mashed potates!  We're so clever!
