That's awesome, that your pants are getting more loose. I started on the book today and realised: it doesn't give enough information to get started!
All the recipes are servings of 2. That's way too much to eat by myself. Every meal is about 300-400 calories times 2 servings = 600-800 calories times 5 meals a day = 3000- 4000 calories per day! The book does not talk about proportion control at all. I had to do a lot of research to figure out the proportion size I had to eat per meal and reduce all the ingredience that way. The recipes alsod doesn't give nutrition information so you have to look it up yourself.
It's a really good book telling you what you should eat and when and the exercises, but the most important part of a "diet" is proportion. Unless your whole family is sticking to it, then you can actually make 2 servings.

I think that book wouldn't suit my lifestyle. Well, I just hope that with diligence, I will continue to lose. Even if I can just get to 125, I will be ok with that.
Ego trip, This is your last day, huh? Let us know your results!

I'm not too fond of the recipe because of the lack of proportion control, but the exercises are great! I followed its 25-30 minutes exercise this morning and I'm really feeling it right now. It hurts so much and I haven't even to bed yet!

That is why I love the zone soooooo much! Even though a lot of the recipes are for two people, all you have to do is look in the index of foods to cut it down. If you do not like a food in the mix, all you have to do is look in the index to find equal value for replacement. It was complicated at first, but I found that therer was an over obundance to eat! And In one month, I lost 9 lbs. I want to follow the concepts again, but ideally, I cannot cook as much as I did.
I think that it all comes down to foods that we eat, what time of day that we eat them, and the amount of exercise that we do. Processed foods are BAD!!! I am no longer going to eat them!
My husband heard something within the last year that made me crindge! After death, our bodies are not going through the normal decomposition that we used to. our bodies are being preserved beacause of the preservatives that we are eating! Really disturbing! Gross or not to you, that makes me sick.
On one point, it is great that people can save food for a long time, But on another, preservatives are made of sodium which raise blood pressure, among other things.... so there are meds for that, who cares. So, you live longer, with a higher med bill, probably off the government. Urgh! If people just realized the awful foods that we are eating, and the torment to our bodies, maybe...just maybe they would want to do better!
I hope to buy a house, That way I can grow my own fruits and veggies...I know where it cam from!
Blah, I just ranted! Sorry!

I actually e-mailed the guy who wrote the book about portion control. I doubt he'll reply anytime soon, if at all. It doesn't hurt to ask though.
Oh gosh, I know exactly what you mean by having time to make food. I spent yesterday's whole afternoon cooking 2 meals and 1 breakfast. You're only supposed to take 5 minutes to prepare but I've never actually cooked for myself before in my whole existence so it takes me longer. haha.
It's really gross what people do now, have you ever watched the documentary "supermarket secrets"? I watched 5 minutes of it and was too grossed out to continue. I can send you a link if you'd like, they have it on the internet. My friend's buying actual chicken and she said the bones are white and there isn't any reddish coloured "blood" near the bones. It's supposed to be like that because bones contain calcium.
You're just like my mom, she plants vegetables during summer and eat off the apple tree often. They don't use pesticedes and chop off all the places the worms have chewed on.
Well, I still need to figure out when I should eat the meals as I exercise in the morning and no food at least 30 minutes before or after exercising.
You're taking a break from dieting right?

Well, when I belonged to a gym, I met with a trainer. He said that I was supposed to have no more than 350 cal at a meal, 2 snacks of 100 cal. I was exercising (high impact) for 1 hr 3-4 times a week.
On the zone, I have 19 grams of protein, 21 grams of carbs, fat is added in in blocks. Two snacks of 7 grams protein, 9 grams of carbs, again fat is added in. You have to read the book to get the concept totally. So, I follow this, but not entirely. Talking about it makes me want to be strct again!

Well, I have been pretty good today! I have really ate well. I hope that I keep it up!
Salamanda- The surgery was awful, but fortunately there is endoscopic surgery now. I only have two scars- belly button and left side. Very small. But, my left waist is slightly larger than my right. It has been that way since the surgery, not noticeable- only to me. But, none the less, disturbing! I am always in fear that I will have another. I have a child and it went fine, but they say that I have a 70% chance of having another. on top of that, they thought that something was blocking my right tube. They refused to do the dye test, since I conceived without any problems. I guess that it's a pretty harsh test with a very long needle, and flourescent die. they inject it into your tube, then do an ultrasound to watch the path of the dye. I don't think that I want that!

Oooh, thanks so much for that calories information. I think I can use those lines to plan around my meals! Once again, I only ate half of my dinner and I only used half of the ingrediences. I used one of those online calories calculator and I need roughly 1700 cal per day. If I cut those meals down, but still maintain over/around 1100 cal per day I think I should be fine! I know I still need to cut down the amount of food I make. So much leftovers!
Did your fitness trainer recommand going on the zone? Or was there another reason? How was the experience working with a trainer? I was thinking of going that route a while back but read some very bad comments.
I'll watch that documentary once I finish my summer course, it's more motivation to watch what I eat. My friend buys from the butcher and I'm trying to cut down chicken. I had some turkey today and realised the bones are the same as chicken. Does that mean the same thing apply?
How's your weight coming? Is it staying the same? I hope so!

I went on the Zone before the trainer and lost 9 lbs in 1 month (ideal). The trainer thought that the zone wasn't right for the exercize. BUT, The zone specifically states what to eat with the amount of exercise you are doing. It opened me up to a new world that I didn't know existed. He talks about Ecosonoids (SP), they are a hormone that he says are the buiding blocks of our existance. In order to maintain our weight. We need to control these. I felt the best that I ever have on this diet. Actually, I got pregnant while on this diet!
He does not agree with the average weight, food intake. It soley goes off of your lean muscle mass and exercise to calculate your percentages. You start with protein, then carbs, lastly fat. Fat is added in with nut, olive oil, other oil, etc. There are many people that were on meds for health/mental health, that went off their meds due to the diet. I found that I memorized the portions after time- second nature. The trick is to prepare before hand, buy frozen veggies, and substitute when necessary. I would only have a half piece of bread a day. There is soooooo much to eat that you wouldn't miss a thing!
I did not lose any weight while training in two months. But I maintained my weight. You know, a trainer only goes through nine months of school. I think that they are great, but I would speak to a nutritionist before a trainer plans your meals!

Oh, and I watched a program through our public broadcast. They compare like five diets over a year. The women on the zone lost the most weight and kept it off! gastric bypass was also figured into this!
I know it sounds like I am spamming- I am not! just a huge advocate!!!!!!!

Thanks so much. This is really great.
I'm thinking of sticking to my current "diet" for a little while and see how it goes. I think if I can get the portions right it will probably work for me. The exercises are great: it hurts for me to walk, sit down, etc. I think a good way to lose weight exercising and doing a good food plan.
I will look up the different proportions my book suggests, it requires a certain amount of nutrition from each category.
