Re: HOW MUCH HAVE YOU LOST??

Hello, Fatsouper,

Good for you!  Wow, 8 pounds is a lot!!  I'm on day 5, too, and have lost about 5 pounds so far.   I think that I will go off of this for a week, but try to stay on a veggie and fruit low cal diet, and then go back on it afterwards.  I just don't want to gain it back afterwards.   Good luck!

Re: HOW MUCH HAVE YOU LOST??

Hello.

Just wanted to mention to everyone that it might be a good idea to consume a few ounces of pure apple cider each day, along with this diet.   It has a great cleansing affect, boosts metabolism, provides some vitamins and minerals, and fights the accumulation of fat.  Check out some of the web sites.

Re: HOW MUCH HAVE YOU LOST??

Just wanted to congratulate everyone and say keep up the good work. I finished yesterday and can finally fit into pants I couldn't before. Don't know exactly how much I lost cuz I can't stand to know how much I actually weigh. Just know I feel better and my clothes fit better. Still have a ways to go, so I will continue to eat healthy and do the diet again in 2 wks. It really motivates you to eat healthy after seeing the results and to know that you are only cheating yourselves if you binge. My husband even lost a few pounds this past wk and he wasn't even on the diet! He ate alot of salads and vegies with me tho. The banana shakes were the best, still having those for brkfst in the a.m. and taking the soup to work with me for lunch, I love the taste! Well good luck all!smiley-laugh

Re: HOW MUCH HAVE YOU LOST??

Yes, I read in a Reader's Digest recently 1 T of apple cider vinegar mixed with a glass of water taken before meals really does aid in weight loss so I've started adding it to my metamucil before meals.

Oh and to answer the topic question... I've gone from 158 to 124 since February.  I've been maintaining 124 (give or take a few) for about the last month and a half.  I only do the first 3 days of CSD if I've done a little pigging out or haven't had the time to exercise for a few days.

I lost 32 pounds in 3 months doing the New Cabbage Soup Diet and have stayed at 124 for the last 3 months eating and exercising sensibly!  You can do it too!
Update I'm now down to 121 and counting.
Update as of 9/12 I'm 120!
After my recent bout of CSD 10/6 I'm 117.6

Re: HOW MUCH HAVE YOU LOST??

I just tried the Apple Cider Vinegar in a glass of cold water!   At first I thought "O my God, I'm going to puke"!  But then it wasn't so bad, like some really bad watered down wine or something!  smiley-samui

Re: HOW MUCH HAVE YOU LOST??

Sally, I heard of the capsule ones too!  I haven't heard one way or another about them.  I've read about it over and over in so many different magazines so there HAS TO be something to it, ya know?

I'm going to try it out right now, so I'll let you know how it is....

smiley-ohmy  Not so great!

Not too bad though either if you just do it really really fast!  I like vinegar on my french fries so I just tried to use my imagination....  smiley-laugh

I just had another glass! I am inane!  ("Insane in the Membrane"!)
I had a tbls. with ICE cold water in about a 6 oz glass and sipped it like wine (bad wine)smiley-wacko
Funny though Mandy, that OTHER 3dd that you posted suggests it every morning!  Maybe next week I might try that one for 3 days now that I know I can drink it without puking!!  ha ha:blink:

Re: HOW MUCH HAVE YOU LOST??

I know, that was one of the main reasons that I didn't do that other diet yet.  I was afraid to drink vinegar!

You did it again already?  You are insane!

That's what I did too.  I did it in about a 9 oz glass with cold water.  But I dont' know about sipping it!!!  I slammed it like I was the queen of the county fair drinking contest!  (oh, wrong thread...oops!)

And Sally I just talked to my mom who is in and out of the health stores all the time and she said if you can get it down in the real form instead of the pill form you'll be much better off.  She said try putting it on salads if you can't get it down in a glass.

Wow zero I like it already and it helps you lose weight.
Yes we have air con at school but it's a pain when you wear hearing aids like I do cos I don't hear the kids just the air con so I have to keep turning it off when teaching!!!  We don't have it at home though as we don't get enough hot weather to justify it lol! Central heating is more important here!

Re: HOW MUCH HAVE YOU LOST??

Apple Cider Vinegar is what you Brits put on Fish and Chips isn't it?  Maybe that's Brown malt vinegar...regardless you should have it here...go to a bigger STORE!!  lol!
Yes I watch "The f Word" and we've seen his new show you were talking about too.  Also just last night started his new season of the American show "Hell's Kitchen".  It's on our regular TV station, not BBC which is where I watch the other ones.  Also this week has been "MasterChef" on BBC which isn't Gordon Ramsey, but a contest of aspiring chefs in England to win a spot as a premiere chef there.  It's quite good too!  (wow I just said THAT with an English accent!)

Sally, I have always 'gargled' with apple cider vinegar (rather than salt water) if I start getting a sore throat, it is very medicinal.  I actually just had another small glass, only about 4 - 6 oz. like drinking a big shot, or we can pretend it's the worst rot gut whiskey out there!  (oops, wrong thread~!)
Actually I don't think it would be as effectie to just us it as salad dressing, usually you're supposed to drink it in the morning (I think it breaks up mucous or something maybe) and drink it before meals.  HMMM?  perhaps it reduces the appetite because it is so yucky that you want to puke!!)smiley-ohmy  Ihave to admit, I kind of like it..I guess I need to suffer a little bit, perhaps punish myself for not being 'perfect' smiley-angel during th weekend!smiley-tongue

Re: HOW MUCH HAVE YOU LOST??

Hi to all,

I am planning to begin this diet tomorrow. I first did this diet about 15 years ago and I really need to do it again. I tend to gain in my mid section and I have realized that food seems to console me- not good. I know that this is a difficult diet, but if you all can do it then so can I. I hope anyway.

Re: HOW MUCH HAVE YOU LOST??

It's weird coming across this post.

I make my own cider vinegar. Not for diet purposes, I had no idea that it had diet benefits. I make it because it's easy to do and it's excellent vinegar for salads and cooking.

It's very easy.

You need a vinaigrier like this one:
http://www.frenchgardening.com/p/products/ACCU74.jpg

You fill it with cider. It has to be full strength (brut) 6% alcohol, because it is the alcohol that turns into vinegar.

You leave it for a long while, and a layer of bacteria will form over the top. This is both normal, and essential. The bacteria is the ""mother" and it is the bacterial action that does the work. You can speed things up by getting a peice of mother from someone else. With an active mother, a bottle of cider will turn to vinegar in 2 or 3 weeks.

I have 2 vineaigriers, 1 small 1 big. I use the small one for daily salad use and the big one I decant and flavour with rosmary, thyme, garlic, chilli etc, and then bottle to give to frinds or sell.

You can do exactly the same thing with wine, but I find wine vinegar is a bit harsh.

I neve new cider vinegar was used bu dieters. I must do some googling!

Re: HOW MUCH HAVE YOU LOST??

Thanks for that Stewart is it a French thing to make it? If I can't find it at least I can make it. I don't understand though how it can be 0 calories if it had alcohol to start with though????? I'm confused [mind you it doesn't take a lot lol!] Stewart how is the diet going for you this week?

Re: HOW MUCH HAVE YOU LOST??

Oh Twilight, we are so naughty!  Why does it always come back to the alcohol with us?

Thanks for the tip on making vinegar Stew!  Thankfully I can find it in any local store (shop!) because I am not quite that adventerous!

Sally, my kids would be so jealous...air conditioning at school!  They come home looking wilted every day and can't wait to get in the pool!

Welcome isabel!  I feel your pain as I always gain my weight around the middle and it's always the last place i lose it!  Good luck to you!  I'm sure your weight will be a great success!

And I just realized what this thread was all about so I guess I should post some results!  From February 26th - April 30th I lost about 17 pounds just healthy eating and lots of water.  Then I did CSD and lost 3 1/2.  Then I did the 3 day diet and lost 2 1/2.  And since May 12th I've been fluctuating back and forth with 4 or 5 pounds.  So total weight loss = 23.

Re: HOW MUCH HAVE YOU LOST??

Yes Stew, very interesting about making it yourself!  I have the time and do things like that but if I ever saw any mold or bubbling bacteria debris on anything..I know I couldn't drink it.  I've been drinking the 'store bought' stuff for 2 days now. I think today I will buy the stuff that is really good for you, I think the brand is "BRAGG" and I read that it does contain the "Mother" and I've seen it at my neighborhood health food store. I don't know if any of the 'diet benefits' is true or not but it is good for your health in many other ways too.  I don't even have to 'chug it' down, I sip it and don't mind it at all.
Off the subject...(naturally) I do pla on making "Lemoncello" when our lemon tree is overloaded with lemons.  Anyone ever had that?  It's Vodka, sugar and lemons.  A buig thing in Italy.  I want to try it with Equal or Splenda to save a few calories, what do you guys think?  A waste of time or could it be the new "Diet drink" of the "Party Girls" wasted weekends? smiley-wink

Re: HOW MUCH HAVE YOU LOST??

The vinegar with a slimy mother floating on top is very "earthy" but that's why the vinegar pots have a lid and a cute tap - you don't have to see all that stuff. But it's not way out or hippy, it's how vinegar has always been made.

This round(3) of the CSD ends tonight.

I'll weigh myself tomorrow morning and let you know the final toll.

I have my cheekbones back, and I look like my father again!

Re: HOW MUCH HAVE YOU LOST??

Good for you Stew!  I'm sure you'll do great!
and actually...i think there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with being "way out" or "hippy"!   I kind of pride myself in that!!
I know you need the bubbly brew for anything fermented like that.  I remember making wine back in college...it bubbled and actually kind of sucked!
So I'm on day 3 of my version of the CSD!  and so far this morning I have had 2 small glasses of apple cider vinegar with cold water (1 TBLS. vinegar to 6 oz. H2O) -I just can't help myself!  My version so far has been day 3 each day.  Lots of veggies and soup during the day, some fruit as snacks and watermelon for dinner.  I think I'm taking off a pound or so a day.  But "MY" version is M-TH of day 3 of the CSD, but yes with coffee and tea and the weekends off.  So I will probably put back on half of what I lose, but at least I can live with it.  On the orginal 7 day diet I found myself just counting the days until it was over so I could EAT!!!  and when it was over, I did just that, ate and ate and ate!  So I have got to make it work for me and not feel so deprived.

Re: HOW MUCH HAVE YOU LOST??

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie!  I am 42 years ols and started at 174 lbs.  I am at day 5 and am at 171 today.  I went on this diet about 10 yesrs ago to support a friend who was on it and remeber losing weight really fast, but the again, back then I didn't even need to lose it.  I have been very frustrated because I have never had a weight problem and the past year I have put on 30 lbs.  I though that it was ude to lack of exercise so I started walking 4 miles a day for 4 weeks and put 5 more lbs. on so I stopped.  Now I am alternating Samba with Tae Bo.  I love them both, they make me feel great but I think that I need this diet to give me a jump start on the 30 lb. goal that I have set for myself for weight loss.
I am a little confused though since everyone has mentioned the visits tothe bathroom.  I have not had this problem at all.  Also does 3 lbs. seem right for 5 days?  Maybe it's better to weight myself once a week instaed of 3 times a day. smiley-rolleyes
Any advice is welcome as I am feeling very discouraged after nothing else working.  All of your posts are very encouraging.

Chrissie
