Hi everyone,
I'm new to the cabbage soup diet. I will be starting it tomorrow and have heard alot about it. I am a soup lover so this will be easy! You don't have to weigh foods, count calories or points and the variety is great! I'm a mom of three children under the age of six. After going through child birth I found it very hard to get down to my normal weight. And it's not because I'm a big eatter or snack on alot of junk. They say after having children your body is never the same. How true! But the children are a blessing and I would do it all over again regardless the belly flab! LOL
Anyway, my question is: What are the differences between the old cabbage soup diet to the new cabbage soup diet? I don't want to spend more $ to buy the book. So if someone out there could inform me it would be greatly appreciated! Good luck to all of you and I'm glad I found a diet that works with family lifestyle!

I actually just asked that same question in a different forum. I didn't get exactly what the changes were but another girl posted her diet. This is what she does:

My Cabbage Soup or Catabolic Diet
I have some of the New CSD in my plan.

Doctors, for rapid weight loss in patients before surgery, developed this diet. This diet is catabolic, which means the more you eat of it, the more weight you will lose. The reason is very simple: Your body burns more calories digesting these vegetables than their caloric content.

This 7-day eating plan can be used as often as you like. If correctly followed, it will clear your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well-being as never before. After only 7 days on this process, you will begin to feel lighter by at least 10 pounds and maybe up to 17 pounds. You will have an abundance of energy. Continue on this plan as long as you like.

This diet is fast, and Fat Burning, and the secret is that you will burn more calories than you take in. It will flush your system of impurities.
NO drinking alcohol on this diet! Also, NO bread or carbonated beverages! (Includes soft drinks)

This diet will not hurt you if you are on any prescription medications.

Because everyone's digestive system is different, this diet will affect everyone differently. After being on this diet for several days, you will find that your bowel movements have changed, you may eat a cup of bran or fiber cereal with skim milk.

Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water a day, along with any combination of the following: black coffee, tea, unsweetened fruit juices, unsweetened cranberry juice, and skim or FF milk.

My recipe for Fat Burning Cabbage/Vegetable Soup Recipe:
1 Small Head Green Cabbage
1 Large Cans Crushed or Diced Tomatoes
4-6 Green Onions (chopped)
1 Large Can FF Chicken Broth
3 Leeks chopped add some of the green
1-3 stalks Celery
1 Large Green Peppers
1Can FF Green Beans
1 Pounds baby Carrots
1 bunch of Parsley chopped
1-3 tsp minced Garlic
1 ½ cup of Uncooked Brown Rice may be added to the soup, if you are skipping Brown Rice Day (Day 7).
Cut veggies in small to medium bite sized pieces, cover completely with water, and boil fast for 10 minutes. Reduce to simmer and continue cooking until veggies are tender. (About 30 minutes) Season with salt, black pepper, bullion cubes, Ginger, Turmeric, Cumin, Curry, Cayenne pepper, poultry seasoning

This soup can be eaten any time you are hungry. Eat as much as you want, whenever you want. This soup will not add calories. The more you eat the more weight you will lose. Fill a thermos in the morning if you are going to be gone for the day.

7 Day Meal Plan:
DAY 1: Any fruit EXCEPT bananas today. Blue Berries, Strawberries, Cantaloupe, and watermelon are lower in calories than most fruits. Eat only soup and fruit today. You may have one serving of 100 % Bran, 8 ounces of milk or FF/SF yogurt today.

DAY 2: All vegetables. You may eat until you are stuffed with fresh, raw, or canned vegetables. Try to eat green leafy vegetables and stay away from dry beans, peas, or corn. Eat veggies along with your soup at dinnertime. Tonight reward yourself with a small baked potato and butter substitute! Do not eat any fruits today. You may have one serving of 100 % Bran, 8 ounces of milk or FF/SF yogurt today.

DAY 3: Eat all the soup, fruits, and veggies you want. Do not have the baked potato today. You may have one serving of 100 % Bran, 8 ounces of milk or FF/SF yogurt today.

DAY 4: Banana's and skim milk. Eat at least three bananas and drink as much skim milk as you can today. Bananas are high in calories and carbohydrates, as is the milk. You will need the potassium and carbs today. (Substitute for Banana: Kiwi) Some people cannot eat bananas. You may have one serving of 100 % Bran, and 8 ounces of milk or FF/SF yogurt today. I make my banana smoothies with soymilk, banana, vanilla flavor and a sprinkle of nutmeg. The night before banana day I peel some bananas, break into pieces, place in a sandwich baggie and freeze for some quick frozen treats. If you use only a small amount of soymilk the banana has the consistency of banana ice cream when blended with the milk and vanilla. Great on a hot summer day.


DAY 5: Skinless chicken or fish and tomatoes. You may have 10 to 20 ounces of chicken OR fish and as many as six fresh tomatoes (or canned) on this day. Eat the soup at least once this day. You may have one serving of 100 % Bran, 8 ounces of milk or FF/SF yogurt today.

DAY 6: Meat and veggies eat until your hearts content today. Eat the Chicken or Fish with green leafy vegetables. No baked potato. Be sure to eat the soup at least once! One serving of milk (or Yogurt)and Bran Cereal.

DAY 7: Brown Rice, Unsweetened fruit juices and veggies. Again, be sure to eat the soup. Limit the rice to ¼ cup per serving. You may have one serving of 100 % Bran, 8 ounces of milk or FF/SF yogurt today.

You may add 1-1/2 cup Uncooked Brown Rice to the soup Recipe and skip Rice Day 7. On day 7, take the day off and eat sensibly or repeat Day 3 of the diet.

By the end of the 7th day, if you have not cheated on this diet, you should have lost 5 - 14 pounds. If you have lost more than 14 pounds stay off the diet for at least two days before resuming it again, starting again on Day 1 of the meal plan.

You may use any seasoning, cinnamon, nutmeg, curry, Italian Seasoning, Poultry Seasoning, Turmeric, or others. You may use any condiment with 15 or less calories per tablespoon, SoySauce (low sodium is my preference), Ketchup, Mustard, FF mayonaise or Miracle Whip, Low fat Dressing, etc.
