Hi Everyone
I'm new, and am just about to start the Cabbage Soup diet (heading to the grocery store shortly) but I have one little problem. I'm highly allergic to Bananas.

So I'm wondering if anyone knows of a substitute fruit that I can use for Day 4? I'm not entirely sure why it was banana in the first place that they selected so I don't just want to replace it with any old fruit, if infact it was picked for a nutriet reason. Anyhow, Thanks for your help!

Keri-

My girlfriend and I are regular cabbage-soup dieters--we've both done the progam several times. She isn't allergic to, but simply hates the taste of, bananas (and milk for that matter). So rather than finding a substitute, she just skips day four altogether and follows the rest of the diet for six days instead of seven. We've found that we both achieve the same results (I follow all seven days). She's also followed the diet and simply left out the bananas and milk, just eating the soup and drinking tea and cranberry juice. This probably wasn't the answer you were looking for, but I hope it helps!

Thanks to both of you!

I've decided to just skip the plan for that day, and do an extra day of soup and veg. Thanks for your help!

Hi I started tonight and I actually have done this before and it has been my experience that the banana day is helpful for curbing the craving for sweets. It did it for me and I was able to make gooey Carmel Pull-A-Parts for my family and not even tempted!!! (not like me!) So I if you do have a problem with sweets I would find something to substitute for the bananas. Just a thought. The kiwi sounds good. I might try that this round.

Hey just found the evidence for you about the kiwi: The CSD2 Diet I guess:

My recipe for Fat Burning Cabbage/Vegetable Soup Recipe:
1 Small Head Green Cabbage
1 Large Cans Crushed or Diced Tomatoes
4-6 Green Onions (chopped)
1 Large Can FF Chicken Broth
3 Leeks chopped add some of the green
1-3 stalks Celery
1 Large Green Peppers
1Can FF Green Beans
1 Pounds baby Carrots
1 bunch of Parsley chopped
1-3 tsp minced Garlic
1 cup of Uncooked Brown Rice may be added to the soup, if you are skipping Brown Rice Day (Day 7).
Cut veggies in small to medium bite sized pieces, cover completely with water, and boil fast for 10 minutes. Reduce to simmer and continue cooking until veggies are tender. (About 30 minutes) Season with salt, black pepper, bullion cubes, Ginger, Turmeric, Cumin, Curry, Cayenne pepper, poultry seasoning
This soup can be eaten any time you are hungry. Eat as much as you want, whenever you want. This soup will not add calories. The more you eat the more weight you will lose. Fill a thermos in the morning if you are going to be gone for the day.
7 Day Meal Plan:
DAY 1: Any fruit EXCEPT bananas today. Blue Berries, Strawberries, Cantaloupe, and watermelon are lower in calories than most fruits. Eat only soup and fruit today. You may have one serving of 100 % Bran, 8 ounces of milk or FF/SF yogurt today.
DAY 2: All vegetables. You may eat until you are stuffed with fresh, raw, or canned vegetables. Try to eat green leafy vegetables and stay away from dry beans, peas, or corn. Eat veggies along with your soup at dinnertime. Tonight reward yourself with a small baked potato and butter substitute! Do not eat any fruits today. You may have one serving of 100 % Bran, 8 ounces of milk or FF/SF yogurt today.
DAY 3: Eat all the soup, fruits, and veggies you want. Do not have the baked potato today. You may have one serving of 100 % Bran, 8 ounces of milk or FF/SF yogurt today.
DAY 4: Banana's and skim milk. Eat at least three bananas and drink as much skim milk as you can today. Bananas are high in calories and carbohydrates, as is the milk. You will need the potassium and carbs today. (Substitute for Banana: Kiwi) Some people cannot eat bananas. You may have one serving of 100 % Bran, and 8 ounces of milk or FF/SF yogurt today. I make my banana smoothies with soymilk, banana, vanilla flavor and a sprinkle of nutmeg. The night before banana day I peel some bananas, break into pieces, place in a sandwich baggie and freeze for some quick frozen treats. If you use only a small amount of soymilk the banana has the consistency of banana ice cream when blended with the milk and vanilla. Great on a hot summer day.

DAY 5: Skinless chicken or fish and tomatoes. You may have 10 to 20 ounces of chicken OR fish and as many as six fresh tomatoes (or canned) on this day. Eat the soup at least once this day. You may have one serving of 100 % Bran, 8 ounces of milk or FF/SF yogurt today.
DAY 6: Meat and veggies eat until your hearts content today. Eat the Chicken or Fish with green leafy vegetables. No baked potato. Be sure to eat the soup at least once! One serving of milk (or Yogurt)and Bran Cereal.
DAY 7: Brown Rice, Unsweetened fruit juices and veggies. Again, be sure to eat the soup. Limit the rice to cup per serving. You may have one serving of 100 % Bran, 8 ounces of milk or FF/SF yogurt today.
You may add 1-1/2 cup Uncooked Brown Rice to the soup Recipe and skip Rice Day 7. On day 7, take the day off and eat sensibly or repeat Day 3 of the diet.
By the end of the 7th day, if you have not cheated on this diet, you should have lost 5 - 14 pounds. If you have lost more than 14 pounds stay off the diet for at least two days before resuming it again, starting again on Day 1 of the meal plan.
You may use any seasoning, cinnamon, nutmeg, curry, Italian Seasoning, Poultry Seasoning, Turmeric, or others. You may use any condiment with 15 or less calories per tablespoon, SoySauce (low sodium is my preference), Ketchup, Mustard, FF mayonaise or Miracle Whip, Low fat Dressing, etc.

Great thanks! I'll just use the Kiwi then.

A quick question for everyone, when you started the diet, the first day, after eatting so much fruit, did you feel really crampy? I feel terrible lol Okay not 'terrible' but my stomach feels so crampy! Maybe I'm just eating the wrong fruit? Kiwi,Mango, Strawberries, Apples and Pears?

LOL, yeah, I was a bit crampy too. It may have something to do with some of the fruit's acidity? I had grapefruit, mango, honeydew, peaches, strawberries and pears... but you're not alone!
